To achieve this, Te Pou provides health organisations with tools, products and resources to help them build a strong and enduring workforce and improve their services. Funding sources include the Ministry of Health, Health Workforce New Zealand, NGOs, DHBs and the education sector.
Te Pou’s key objectives are:
- facilitate organisational and professional development
- improve recruitment and retention
- strengthen leadership
- support the use of evidence and knowledge to improve outcomes.
Te Pou incorporates Disability Workforce Development which is a programme dedicated to supporting workforce development for frontline disability support staff, and Le Va, Pasifika within Te Pou - New Zealand's national Pacific health workforce development programme.
All the programmes are charged with running a dynamic series of mental health projects that add value to the sector now, and assist in creating services to meet future needs.
By sparking new growth, ideas and innovation, Te Pou will strive to engage the hearts and minds of everyone connected with mental health services.
