Workwise Employment Agency was founded in direct response to requests from mental health service users choosing Pathways services who simply wanted support to access real work with real pay.

Workwise began in 2000 and now operates in eight New Zealand regions: Hamilton, Hauraki, Taranaki, Rotorua, South and Central Auckland, Wairarapa, Christchurch and Wellington.

Workwise is an experienced supported employment provider striving to be at the cutting edge of new thinking and new ways of operating. The organisation is accessible to people who have a predominant mental illness and who are already accessing income support and health services.

Workwise provides evidence-based supported employment (EBSE). EBSE is a proven method of supported employment which is used across the world. It integrates employment assistance with mental health treatment and support.

Workwise is visible, has a good reputation and is well known and valued in the sector. The organisation has deliberately engaged in a communication and branding strategy that aligns its service with mainstream employment agencies, reinforcing messages about obtaining real jobs and the value of every individual’s career potential.

Workwise also includes Miracle Toys, a social enterprise that offers real employment opportunities for people who face significant barriers to obtaining a job experience.

Miracle Toys are handmade for children young and old in Hamilton, New Zealand. They are designed to be uniquely New Zealand, reflecting our culture, identity and natural environment. They are fun, educational, and natural, and because of their durability and classic style, they are something to be passed down for generations.
