New home for Wise Group

July 2007

The former Mitre 10 building on Grey Street, Hamilton East will be redeveloped into a custom-fitted office for the Wise Group.

Largely a concrete shell, the refurbished building will house the head office for Wise Group’s national group, and organisations such as Te Pou, Pathways, Workwise and Keys Living Choices. It is estimated around 100 employees will be accommodated.

Though not traditionally in the business of buildings, Wise Trust Chair, Bruce Sheridan, says the Group has had to strategically reassess its position in recent years.

“As the market has heated we’ve faced problems of landlords selling buildings, escalations in lease costs and no assistance or recognition of items like fit out costs,” he says.

The Hamilton project follows the development of Harakeke House in Manukau, which accommodates five organisations and has become the hub for the local mental health community.
